For a really long time I had difficulty in Identifying, understanding the Psorinum Constitution and using it in practice. But after a number of cured cases I was able to find some easily identifiable features of this very useful nosode.
- Skin- Unhealthy skin, prominent veins, capillaries, OILY face, dry patches
- Hair- greasy, patches of greys after illness, splitted hair like in deficiencies.
- Anxiety about others, trifles, often ask about diagnosis & treatment of another family member out of worry. Poor confidence ( Lyco, Sil ) , self doubts, poor self esteem ( Natrum ) – they often come with this feeling of shame due to acne, psoriasis, dandruff, sneezing, itching or such things that may cause embarrassment to patient.
- Lack of reaction or response to treatment often calls for Pso, Sul, Opium.
- Catches cold at any atmospheric change- used as intercurrent or main remedy either
- Cannot tolerate hunger, hungry in the middle of night ( Compare- sul )
- CHILLY- covers even in warm weather, puts on sweater even in slightly breezy temperature, can live without fan even.
- Hypersensitive to many things like noise, light, weather, impression , smells ( compare NUX ).
- Allergic to – odour, applications, foods ( Compare TUB )
- OFFENSIVE- body & feet odor is never unnoticed ! ( Compare – SIL )
- Chronic constipation if often seen in psorinum . Constipation associated with acne breakouts if confirmatory.
- Hopelessness & doubts of recovery- keeps asking if the issues is curable & need constant reassurance from doctor.
- Never well since influenza ( any viral infection similar to it ).
- Dwells on past disagreeable things ( like Natrum )
- Insecure & various fears like misfortune, poverty , “ something bad will happen” ( compare- Ars, Calc )
Few cases
- A case of SIl, who came for acne , was improving with SIl yet acne kept coming back. On the basis of feet odor alone, PSOR was prescribed in weekly doses for a month, and he was cured of his issue. Later we asked him about foot sweat- he wasn’t even aware that it was noticeable & we gave medicines for that as well.
- A case of Acne- the patient was on Nat Mur for long time for his acne, dandruff & rhinitis. After retaking the case and noticing the anxiety about trifles, poor self esteem , self doubts combined with greasy oily , unclean appearance Psorinum was given which cleared the whole case.
- A case of allergic rhinitis- Patient was on Nux ,with lot of relief, yet the episodes were recurring. Till weekly doses of psor was given for few months. Later he required nux very rarely, once in an year or so.
